Thank you for visiting the web site of MTS Houston Section, the largest section of the National Marine Technology Society. The Houston Section currently has around 600 members, which include representatives from major oil and gas companies, contractors and supply companies primarily involved in offshore exploration and development in the Gulf of Mexico.

Lunch meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month, except the December meeting which is held on the first Thursday in December. There is no meeting in November. The section publishes a monthly Announcement, which is distributed to around 2,000 qualified professionals throughout the United States. 

Other activities planned for the year include a Sporting Clays Tournament in February, the Annual Golf Tournament in July; the Annual Dynamic Positioning Conference in September; and a Barbecue Social in October. 

The MTS Houston Section actively supports the industry through its generous scholarship program.

Our Mission
The Marine Technology Society is a national organization dedicated to:

• Disseminating marine science and technical knowledge.

• Promoting and supporting education for marine scientists, engineers, and technicians.

• Advancing the development of tools required to explore, study and utilize the oceans.

• Providing services that create a broader understanding of the relevance of the marine sciences to other technologies, arts and human affairs.
